What are you Going to Build Today ?

Stoves:

Risk's Coffee Stove - The concept is a stove which mixes air with fuel, but does not require a fan.  It uses the same coffee can used for the Forge series, which has the great fortune to fit inside the 3 cup AntiGravity pot.

Risk's Forge Stove - A wood burning camping stove that works with a little fan.  This is a one ounce version of the forge.  Instead of being self contained, it offers only the minimal structure necessary to use a forced air assisted wood fire.  In a continual quest to build a lightweight woodburning camping stove, a number of forge-like stoves have been completed.  Risk's forge series of forced air stoves offer many options for the die hard ultra-lighter.

Incognito's Hobo Stove - A very basic, but brilliant version of the classic Hobo wood stove.  Made from a 4" aluminum vent elbow commonly available at any hardware store, cut and drilled as depicted, a bit of chicken wire for a fire base and a U-shaped stainless steel pot support salvaged from a common windshield wiper blade. You don't get cheaper or easier than this.

Sgt Rocks Ion Stove - The Ion Stove at 0.83 ounce is quite likely the lightest alcohol stove available.  It is a complete cooking system (sans pot) at less than one ounce.  The Ion stove is strictly a solo stove intended for boiling water to make simple meals. So don’t expect it to cook for two people or prepare complex meals.   The Ion is a miser beyond its weight. To my knowledge, it is the most fuel efficient stove available. The Ion will boil a pint of water with as little as 0.3 to 0.4 ounce (10-12 ml) of alcohol. At that rate a few ounces of alcohol will go a long way on a thru hike!

Dedicated to building your own lightweight and ultralight equipment. In this section you will find a wide variety of do-it-yourself projects that range in expense and skill requirements.  One common theme of these projects however, is an unfailing commitment to reduce weight.

Hammocks:

Jim Tankers No Sew Hammock - An excellent project for someone new to hammocking or anyone looking for a very quick and easy 'do-it-yourself' hammock.  The entire project can be completed in an afternoon with materials readily available from any Walmart, for a cost of about $85.00  The result is a very functional, insulated and bug-proof hammock capable of support even the heaviest of adults.

Make your own Hammock Video Tutorial - by Paco Warabi  An excellent video walkthrough for making a camping hammock yourself.  Includes everything you will need and well detailed instructions to make the project a success.  Tutorial is broken into three segments.
